Pontoon21 CrackJack 78 is another representative of the numerous CrackJack series, which has confidently settled in the class of light spinning rods. This lure is considered to be very easy to master, it also forgives a lot of blunders of beginners. In hands of professional anglers it can outfish their more famous “classmates”. In the appropriate conditions it can be used as an indicator of the presence of fish. In our ponds CrackJack 78 can catch pike, while the size of this predator may vary from small ones of 200-300 grams to large ones of 2,5-4 kilos. Very often you can also come across perch. In rivers you may also find chub, zander and asp.
To achieve the same behavior among all the representatives of this series the engineers worked on every size individually. As a result, every model has its special style. First and foremost, it is an attractive action both at a straight retrieve and jerking, also it has perfect flying qualities.
According to its proportions CrackJack 78 has an intermediate position between shads and minnows and belongs to the class of shiners. MFB system (Magnetic Force Balance) is responsible for the range of the cast and the necessary stabilization in water. It consists of two metal balls secured in the head and two movable balls situated in a special compartment. In the working position the balls are secured with the help of magnet in the forepart of the compartment. At casting they move to the tail, change the center of masses and ensure the range and accuracy of the cast. A floating version has two balls, a suspend one has four: two in the head and two in the “belly”.
Each of six modifications of CrackJack 78 has its individual peculiarities, which enables the angler to hunt for predator in lakes, ponds and rivers with success. All of them perfectly work in a stream, don’t get lost and don’t fall to the side. Three levels of depth enable it to be used in different water levels – from 0,5 m to 3 m, which includes a great number of on-shore locations and up to the half of on-boat ones, if we take into account usual conditions of the central part of Russia.
The action of the lure depending on its modification is represented by the fluctuations according to the long axis (Rolling) and transverse oscillation (Wobbling). Shallow Runners have a more expressive rolling action, while only fast retrieves add wobbling. Medium Runners have equal amount of wobbling and rolling. The action of deep runners is more about wobbling.
All the modifications perfectly work at jerking. Depending on the character and power they can turn around, move from side to side, wobbling at the same time. At aggressive jerking Medium and Deep Runners change the working water level. At a pause they continue quivering for some time.
Deep running CrackJack 78 has a higher passing ability in places full of snags and junk. During the retrieve the lure takes a special position so that the hooks are covered with a lip and a body of the lure. And if this is a floating version, the passing ability increases even more and you may work in places with snags and sunken branches. Naturally, it won’t overcome impassable jams, that’s why you should have a sound approach to fishing. If the lure meets some obstacle, we hold the spinning rod back, relaxing the grip, and at a pause it emerges. After that we continue retrieving.
Traditionally all Pontoon21 lures are equipped with the sharpest Owner treble hooks.
