Is it possible to combine versatility and specialization? Yes and Seven&Half proves to full extent. Its name means its length – 7’6” feet. This is a universal length for all modern rods of high quality, it is not too long for boat fishing but it is enough for onshore fishing.
But within these series with rods of the same length, you’ll find perfect models, differing in purposes, action and power which makes them suitable for various conditions, types of lures and styles of fishing, be it twitching, jigging, straight retrieval, etc.
All the models are classified into 9 categories according to their power, each category has different rods of different action. More than that, each model has a name which points out at a possible sphere of appliance, recommended by the producer. All that makes it easier for any angler to choose the right model.
The following properties of American rods for bass fishing were taken as a basis for the models in question: perfect balance, big margin of safety, which enables you to make a lot of casts without getting tired and pull out of water large fish. Besides, Seven&Half rods enables you to make a long-range cast and succeed in holding the fish at any stage of retrieval.
Usually anglers are afraid that fish more often take off if you use Extra Fast rods than if were using rods of slower action. These fears are well justified but not in the case of Seven&Half. Blank configuration together with some other characteristics make you forget about these troubles.
Seven & Half blanks are produced from the high modulus graphite by Toray, Japanese company. The butt part material have a higher modulus, which increased sensitivity and lowered its weight. It was possible due to the spaced handle, made from high quality cork in combination with rubber which also contains cork (it’s stronger and it’s rough).
- Perfectly balanced blanks made from Toray high modulus graphite,
- K and KR Fuji guides with Tangle Free system (which prevents the line from tangling) with SiC insets,
- Mixed Fuji SKDPS/SKSPS reel seat – for spinning rods and ACS – for casting models (for multiplier reel),
- Comfortable spaced handle made of high quality cork in combination with other materials,
- Individual serial number.
Toray graphite material (prepreg) is rather expensive, and it is in great demand. To satisfy it, not only does Toray produce prepreg independently, but also supply the factories which produce prepreg themselves with the main component – Carbon yarns.
Pontoon21 gives most precise information about the materials used. For example, Psychogun is made of Toray prepreg, at the same time Pontoon21 GAD rods are made from material by Hankook, Korean company, which produces it from Toray carbon yarns.
A lot of companies, producing and selling rods, prefer to mention only the word Toray for the sake of marketing, omitting the real place of prepreg production, although almost all the rods of average prices are made of these graphites, so to say modern materials.
